Min-san opened her eyes. She was in a tiny room with shattered glass and broken soju bottles. Her legs were covered in bruises, purple ones and blue alike, and her school uniform was missing its name tag. Min-san wiped her eyes with a bruised hand and looked at the shadow above her. Her heartbeat skipped a beat as she trembled in fear. Appa. He stood there, half-naked, with his round belly hanging loosely over his ripped jeans. Appa brushed a smear of snot and drool off his face with his wrinkled hands. He looked at Min-san with revenge in his eyes. Appa wasn’t always like this. After the death of his son, Kim Chan-hee, who died shortly after being hit in the head with a baseball bat. The worst part was that Appa killed him. Appa had already gotten out of prison but he still felt resentment towards Eomma. So after Min-san refused to give him another beer, Appa had a reason to hit his daughter. “ You shouldn’t have been born! You know that?!” he screamed with his soju bottle gripped in his hands. “ Stop!” Eomma screamed and she rushed to hug Min-san. ‘Her apron smelled like kimchi’, thought Min-san as she appreciated the comfort. Eomma started to weep as Appa started to laugh. He tightened his grip and pretended to swing. “ Ah!” screamed Eomma. She hugged Min-san tighter but with so much delicateness that Min-san wanted to cry. " “ You. . .” Appa said and he grabbed the soju bottle and threw it at Eomma. Eomma screamed. Min-san closed her eyes. ‘ God, please kill him. Please.’ was the prayer that ranged in Min-san’s little head. ‘ Pretty please.’ Appa left the house with a loud bang. Min-san reopened her eyes. She looked around to make sure he had truly left and touched Eomma wet forehead. “ Run away, kkoch.” Eomma said and she smiled as Min-san started to cry. “ You are a perfect daughter, you know that? Don’t listen to him. He is just mad.” Eomma started to caress Min-san’s face. She sang, loud and clear, with her voice being the only beautiful thing in the dark, humid basement. " Min-san was killed. She doesn't who or where. But when she woke up as another 16-year-old girl she knows that it was for a reason...REVENGE.
