Tales of the Zodiac - Book 2: Aries
Before humanity can truly begin, the gods must first repair the world.
From the sacred Center Island, ten Greek gods arrive on Aries Island, a ruined land of broken mountains, poisoned coasts, dead fields, sealed caves, silent valleys, and ash-covered beauty. The island is not evil. It is wounded. Each god is called to restore one part of it.
Zeus raises the storm-crowned mountain. Hera builds the first hearthlands. Hermes opens the roads. Aphrodite returns beauty to the valleys. Ares shapes the red plains into a place of courage and discipline. Poseidon calms the coast. Demeter revives the fields. Athena orders stone into wisdom and craft. Apollo heals the springs with music and light. Hades opens the under-valley, where the dead are finally remembered.
Across Aries Island, humans settle into each divine domain. They build homes, temples, roads, gardens, harbors, halls, markets, fields, and burial places. They learn how to cook, worship, marry, farm, heal, trade, raise children, honor the dead, and live beneath the presence of their gods.
For one hundred years, Aries Island becomes whole.
But beneath the peace, a quiet mystery begins to spread.
The people are healthy.
The temples are full.
The homes are strong.
The fields are fertile.
The gods are present.
And yet, something essential has stopped.
As each domain reaches its fullness, the gods begin to notice the same impossible silence — one that none of them can explain.
Aries Island has been restored.
But the question remains:
What has the island been preparing for?
