This is a test review to see how the review system works. Following will be a random book review. Life of Pi is a fantasy adventure novel by Yann Martel published in 2001. The protagonist, Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel, a Tamil boy from Pondicherry, explores issues of spirituality and practicality from an early age. He survives 227 days after a shipwreck while stranded on a boat in the Pacific Ocean with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.[img=faceslap]

Really good. Grandpa Pietro's house sat on the edge of a cliff, all crooked beams and the smell of salt and old wood. The kind of place where you half expected to find pirate treasure in the cellar—or a ghost in the pantry. That evening, after a dinner of fried anchovies and roasted peppers, they sat on the terrace, the sea stretching out below them like a sheet of silver. «Did you know,» Grandpa Pietro began, puffing on his pipe, «that long ago, on nights like this, the lighthouse used to light up all on its own?» Tom rolled his eyes. Irene leaned forward. «They said it was the ghost of Zeno—my brother,» Pietro said, eyes narrowing. «He disappeared forty years ago. Vanished without a trace, just after the shipwreck of the Elettra.» «Shipwreck?» Irene said, suddenly serious. «Cargo ship. Sank during a storm. Officially it was an accident. But Zeno… Zeno believed it was sabotage. He was looking into it. Said there was a secret aboard. Something worth killing for.» Tom blinked. «So… did he find it?» «No one knows,» Grandpa said. «But the night he vanished, the lighthouse flickered to life. One last time.»

Great novel, but I think that one of its strengths is also one of its greatest weaknesses. Unlike in other novels, in this one the world doesn't wait for MC to slowly grow and doesn't present only power appropriate challenges. Powerful characters don't hide somewhere until the halfpoint, they act upon mc right from the start. However, that makes MC feel like a shipwreck victim floating on a piece of wood. Sure, he can paddle around, he can struggle against the waves, but his fate is 99% decided by the ocean. So you kinda just stop caring about his actions, because what's the point? Some accident or some jerk will move the story wherever they wish regardless of whatever MC does or wishes.

The novel is great and i really hope everyone can read it because i am reading it . Just kidding . I think that End of magic era is really great and translation is decent . Novel indicates about the world of mages that has been destroyed and reincarnation, that's good and all. The problem is that World background has some severe issues and one with characters otherwise it is best novel i have read in a long time after super gene . I am not going to talk about pros because everyone would know them after reading first few chapters. Cons are as follows- You wouldn't believe but it might be the first novel i have ever seen in my whole life that has not mentioned a single woman and the only time they talked about woman was fario's daughter which was just a passing word with no character appearance . It is really a bummer that he didn't mentioned single woman in any form in the novel. It looks like the author is Anti-Feminist. Ofcourse novel is good without them, too but still no woman i feel like it is a unisex novel or sorts LOL. Secondly, about world background author didn't explain the Kingdoms and there jurisdiction and kings or rulers or sort there were only towers and hell of a lot them. Atleast six were mentioned before 100 chapters and its just eastern kingdom . There is also the sea where shipwreck of the mysterious father died ,it has no name no direction . What were the planes actually are they planets or just some hanging landscape with so less of resources that humanity finished them so easily.and those level headed undead plane monster only had one of their kinds . The most important point is the only character who had a chinese is protagonist whereas everyone has english name i dont get it after 30 millenniums is the world going to be ruled by chinese ghetto .
