Keiser was a knight of the Royal Brigade, one of the first commoners ever to reach the final trial of the King’s Gambit. The gambit is a brutal tradition that decides who will become the next king.

At his side stood Prince Gideon Aury Valemont, the king’s fourth son, who had seemingly renounced his own claim to support Keiser.
Or so Keiser believed.
Keiser had been nothing but a pawn. Gideon had used him as a shield and a decoy to draw assassins and rivals, all while secretly paving his own path to the throne.
In the final trial, a candidate’s kingmaker must either make the ultimate sacrifice or betray their chosen king and seize the throne.
Gideon chose the crown.
Bloodied and broken, Keiser knelt, impaled by the very sword Gideon had gifted him. A blade forged from the core of a dragon he thought he had freed, now twisted into the instrument of his own death.
With sigils seared into his flesh to kept him kneeling before the very man he had trusted most. As numbness dulled the pain, he raised his gaze...
And beheld Gideon, an enthroned serpent.
In that final breath, Keiser understood. The King’s Gambit had never been about valor. It was a game where victory belonged not to the strongest, but to the most ruthless deceiver.
But death was not his end.
Keiser woke up in the body of Muzio Auro Valemont, the king’s disgraced tenth prince… a long-missing bastard son, doomed to die before the Gambit even begins.
To stop history from repeating, Keiser must find the man he once was. He must convince his former self that betrayal is coming, that Gideon will drive into his back the very blade forged from the dragon he once freed.
Even if it means entering the Trials again in a body too weak to hold a sword.
