The Shadow of Great Britain
“Next, we have the most noble recipient of the Order of the Garter, the Grand Cross of Saint Michael and Saint George, the Grand Cross of the Bath, the Victoria Cross and the lower grades of Knighthood, the leader of the anti-colonial movement, the bell-ringer of the East India Company, the hero of the Crimean War, a Fellow of the Royal Society, a lifelong dear friend of literary giants such as Dickens and Great Dumas, a steadfast supporter of scientific luminaries like Faraday and Darwin, having served as assistant under-secretary, deputy under-secretary, and permanent under-secretary in departments of the Home Office and the Navy Department of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, the inaugural Cabinet Secretary and head of the civil service, the first graduate and most distinguished alumnus of our school. Please welcome Sir Arthur Hastings to deliver a speech on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the University of London.”
Arthur's gaze swept across the crowd before him, looking at the young faces and murmured, “Agares, what do you think I should say?”
The Red Devil's wraith hovered behind him, saliva almost dribbling from the corner of his mouth, “Look at these ignorant souls; they still worship you as a hero. Why not say something they'd like to hear?”
Arthur took a deep breath and let out a deafening roar, “Oxford is a bunch of whores' bastards!”
“Oh!!!!”
The audience erupted into thunderous applause.
“Cambridge is the same!” he added immediately.
The applause grew even more fervent...

Really enjoying this Wickedfanfic so far! I love how you’re exploring what happens after the film’s ending especially Glinda’s emotional fallout 💗. The movie ends on such a bittersweet note, and you’ve captured that mix of hope, grief, and responsibility so well. Seeing Glinda trying to hold Oz together while still processing everything that happened hits really hard. It feels true to the film but also adds your own depth and perspective! A few kind suggestions that might make this post-For Good story even stronger. (1) The ending of For Good leaves Glinda with so much unresolved emotion. Little flashbacks, sensory memories, or echoes of key scenes could really heighten the impact. (2) She lost someone she loved deeply, but she also helped them escape. That mix of heartbreak and hope is such rich territory, and you’re already touching on it beautifully. (3) After the events of the film, Oz would be politically shaky. Adding hints of unrest, confusion, or new factions forming could build an immersive post-movie world. (4) Being left in charge is huge. Showing her doubt, her strategy, and how she grows into leadership could really strengthen her arc. (5) Elphaba shaped so much of Glinda’s identity. Highlighting how Glinda notices the “empty spaces” she left behind could be powerful. (6) Even without referencing songs directly, capturing the dramatic, emotional tone of the movie the colors, the stage-like atmosphere can make the fanfic feel even more connected. Overall, this is such a heartfelt continuation of Wicked For Good. You’re giving Glinda the space to grow, grieve, and become something new, and it’s a joy to read. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
