I love this book. The way the character of Xingie is being illuminated is superb. Nothing n no one stands on her way. The Xi family are starting to appreciate her!

Really aesthetic to read and just you know, drown in those words. I love how u illuminated the little moments but sometimes the sentences are a bit too complicated for an online reader, would definitely take it if it was a pretty vintage paperback.

Instead of simply stating feelings like 'anger' or 'remorse,' the prose needs to lean further into the physical sensations of trauma: the metallic taste of adrenaline, the ache of a clenched jaw, or the painful burn of the drink used to drown a memory. A rewrite should anchor the internal life of the characters in their bodies for a more authentic, human feel. Visually, adopting a high-end, classic style—perhaps with Illuminated Initials for each chapter—would perfectly complement the dark, heavy atmosphere of the story. This small formatting change would give the novel an immense, handcrafted feel.
