The story was good, until it fell into another trap hole of blind nationalism that's just plain stupid. Just wish the Chinese authors actually start writing something without spouting the PRC's propaganda.

A meaningless tale rife with blatant nationalism, a Chinese superiorty complex and racist undertones. Almost as if it's overcompensating for something. What could've been a great story is rendered mediocre by the constant Chinese chest thumping, that you'll think this is written by the PRC. Not recommended unless you're a Chinese nationalist, who for some reason can't read Mandarin.

Do you like RPGs? Do you like leveling? Do you like all the min-maxing involved? Read this stuff. It is heavily based on DnD and similar systems, first chapters are basically all about character creation and half of the novel seems to be about just leveling (and getting OP). Terms are complete Chinese to non-DnDers. And it made me reinstall NWN with PRC and play Rakshasa true neutral Dread Necro. Even though MC of this novel is neutral good and despises grays...

The story is very well written, but at times the development seems to slow down, as the author likes to describe the MC torturing people he sees as trash. Spoiler: his second order mission is too similar to Everyone Else is a Returnee. Although the largest difference is the amount of time used to develop characters and relationships. World background got 4 stars because I have never seen so many animals near a Capital of an industrialised country. I might be wrong but I did not see elephants or bears while I lived in China, and the PRC would never endanger their citizens by leaving predators free.

just finished and honestly, im kinda sad that it's over. ignoring the trust in PRC and the obvious "see how good china and the govt is????" throughout the latter half of the novel, i was honestly so intrigued with the story. Lu Zhou had some character development with more nuance than people give the author credit for. he keeps his main characteristics in being dense when it comes to interpersonal relationships and more inclined towards straightforwardness, but he opens up his actual ability to feel. the relationship portion felt really... rushed? but if you are reading wuxia/xianxia/xuanhuan, you often see an MC who will stave off a relationship for thousands of years or chapters, depending on the novel, but will enjoy that relationship for 10-30 chapters, then some tragedy happens and FL dips for essentially the rest of the novel. that's what happened here, which I guess is ok, but rather unfortunate. people have complaints about the latter portion of the novel, but I enjoyed it. I can't really put it into words because I'm no writer and honestly can't be bothered to figure out how to say why I liked it, but overall, good novel and just entertaining. :D i feel deprived now
