The interaction between fate and free will A complicated theme, the interaction between fate and free will is present in every book of the Iliad. At times it seems that men have no real freedom. The gods intercede repeatedly, altering events as they please. But Homer was no determinist, and there is a place in the Iliad for human agency. At key points, Homer makes it clear that mortals make important choices, and a few times mortals nearly overturn the dictates of fate itself. Zeus's will determines much of fate, but even he is sometimes subject to a higher necessity that is never personalized in the Iliad

Stands up to the Western Canon...incredible. This puts the Iliad to shame and makes the Odyssey seem like child's play. The author's one and only work, but it's legacy will go on.

Apollo has many wacky divinities Medicine and healing are associated with Apollo, whether through the god himself or mediated through his son Asclepius. --- Apollo delivered people from epidemics, yet he is also a god who could bring ill-health and deadly plague with his arrows. The invention of archery itself is credited to Apollo and his sister Artemis Apollo was the god of practically everything - including but not limited to music, poetry, art, prophecy, truth, archery, plague, healing, sun and light (although the god is always associated with the sun, the original sun god was the titan Helios, but everyone forgot about him) ---Apollo's many epithets included "Smintheus," associated with mice and rats, both as their exterminator, but also as the bringer of the plague. The most famous mythical incident of Apollo sending pestilence to those who invoked his wrath was the story of Agamemnon told in the Book I of the "Iliad."God of Music and Poetry, Healing, Agriculture Prophecy and Archery. through plagues, virus, mutation and through his divinities he can fully control everything about him such as body, mind, soul. so, he can gain Biokensis (example prototype series but without needing the help of virus to control biomass) he can consume anyone and gain their powers. so there's that. you can literally make him a true God (or any powerful being) eater.

It's a good story -- nay, a great one. Up there with epics such as the Iliad and Dostoevsky's seminal novel Crime & Punishment. This story has fully enraptured and enthralled me, in a way no book ever has. Every word was clearly carefully picked to paint a clear picture of the author's vision for this story, every single detail artfully put together to paint a magnificent tapestry. I'm so excited to see where this goes. Overall, one star out of five, I wish the protagonist was a hot chick.
