This novel is honestly pretty good, especially in the beginning. Even though the whole “time regression + VRMMO” genre is already heavily saturated, the author still managed to make it feel fresh for a while. The early parts genuinely reminded me of The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor, and that alone already says a lot. The world was fun to explore, the progression felt rewarding, and the author did a surprisingly good job creating characters that were enjoyable to follow. That said, my biggest issue is that at some point, it started to feel like the author lost interest in the story or simply didn’t know where to take it anymore. A lot of the later plotlines became shallow, rushed, or strangely disconnected from everything that made the story interesting in the first place. The protagonist himself started making decisions that felt completely inconsistent with his personality, his past experiences, and even the situations around him. This became especially noticeable once his relationship with the female lead started progressing. I understand that falling in love can change someone, but some of his actions genuinely stopped making sense to me. Another thing that bothered me is how many important emotional elements from the earlier story were gradually ignored. The protagonist’s past life, the relationships he built, the emotional weight he carried from previous experiences... a lot of that slowly stopped mattering and eventually felt like abandoned setup rather than meaningful character history. The antagonists were also a huge downgrade later on. Joker and Angelica, in particular, felt extremely weak as villains. They appeared too abruptly, lacked charisma, and never really felt compelling or threatening in an interesting way. I’ll avoid spoilers, but I also personally dislike the type of antagonist they represent in stories like this. The pacing also became a problem. There were several moments where I completely lost the motivation to keep unlocking chapters because too many sections felt like filler. Side characters would suddenly get long stretches of focus despite not being interesting enough to justify it. Some of those scenes could honestly have been summarized in a few paragraphs instead of dragging on for entire chapters. Roz was probably the worst example of this for me. I genuinely found him unbearable and completely unnecessary to the narrative. On the other hand, I’ll give credit where it’s deserved: the protagonist’s best friend actually became a much better character over time. He started off underdeveloped, but the author eventually gave him more personality and better dialogue, which made him surprisingly enjoyable later on. I also think most of the female characters could have been handled better. A lot of them seemed to revolve around the protagonist too quickly without enough individual development. It made some interactions feel predictable when they could have become much more interesting through relationships with other characters and their own personal goals. Still, despite all my criticism, I honestly think this novel is worth reading, at least up to around chapter 390. The story reaches a point that feels “complete enough” emotionally, even if the overall ending and later arcs are much weaker. I tried continuing beyond that, but personally, I lost interest. One thing I did notice, though, is that the earlier chapters seem to have been heavily edited or rewritten later, possibly with AI assistance to improve the author’s original writing. I compared older and newer versions, and honestly, the revised version is noticeably better, so I respect the effort the author put into improving the story instead of abandoning it completely. In the end, I think this is one of those novels with an excellent foundation and a very enjoyable first half (up to chapter 390), but with a second half that struggles because the author either lost direction or never had a strong long-term conclusion planned from the start. Still, for a webnovel, I’d say it’s good enough and definitely better than most stories in this genre. Not every story needs to be perfect to be worth experiencing.
