The 20th time we walked towards the Pack's sacred altar to complete our bonding ceremony, my fated mate, Caleb Valerius, received a call.
Again.
In eight years, this was our 20th attempt to complete the ceremony.
But every time, just as we neared the altar, he would get a call and rush off.
He said he needed to care for his childhood friend, the one with the Moon Sickness.
This time, I couldn't take it anymore. I confronted him.
"If she never gets better, are you just going to let me be the Pack's laughingstock for the rest of my life? Where does that leave me?"
My question sent Caleb into a fury. "I swore on the Valerius name that I'd care for her for life," he roared. "Can you stop being so damn selfish?"
"Besides, we're fated mates. What the hell does one ceremony even matter?"
Well written, although the transmigration here is more of an afterthought. The ending was somewhat abrupt, leaving the book feeling a little unfinished, but it was still a great read.
