If you, as a reader, were drawn in by the cover art or the premise, I hate to break it to you, but that isn't what this fanfic delivers. (Below, you'll find my full assessment of the fanfic so far.) The fanfic doesn't feature Gilgamesh or any version of him—let alone any clever use of the Gate of Babylon or his other powers. Likewise, the protagonist isn't a reincarnated soul or Gilgamesh himself (a plus, perhaps?), but he is even less mature and developed than Subaru was in the early episodes of Re:Zero. The story is riddled with inconsistencies and "nerfs," all because the author wants Subaru and other characters to shine—even when that doesn't make sense in context. This is especially glaring given that the majority of screen time is split between the protagonist and a female version of Reinhard. That dynamic worked in Re:Zero because the main group wasn't overpowered, but that isn't the case here. Both the protagonist and Fem-Reinhard *should* be absurdly powerful, yet they are being nerfed into oblivion for the sake of the plot, which is incredibly frustrating. The author also makes comments about the fanfic's future that clearly suggest things will get worse—such as making Fem-Reinhard less loyal and dedicated than the original Reinhard. He plans to have her get annoyed with the Kingdom's King (whom she has known for years{MC}) simply because she has to fulfill her duties instead of going out to hang out with friends (one of whom she hasn't even known for a year). (The author stated this himself in one of his replies.) Not to mention, the author doesn't seem to grasp the scale of what he's writing or how ridiculous the scenes end up looking. There are moments where he fits the *Vimana*—the golden flying ship itself—inside a KITCHEN... seriously. The author writes this story as if the character were just an ordinary person—or a low-ranking noble—allowing him to act stupidly and childishly, and even get sworn at and mocked by others. Then, the author remembers the character is a King and tries to portray everyone as admiring and feeling honored by the protagonist's presence, even though that clearly isn't what is actually being written or shown. Honestly, I think the author forgets just how absurd Gilgamesh was from the very start. He tried to create an OC-style Gilgamesh but ended up with a version that seems to have autism, intellectual disabilities, and other impairments; unlike the real Gilgamesh, this OC possesses only empty pride and arrogance, with absolutely nothing to back it up. He shows fear when he shouldn't, lets himself be deceived by mentally unstable people when he ought to be far more intelligent and perceptive, and fails to use even 1% of the arsenal he should possess. (The absolute worst part was when the author decided that no anti-dragon weapon in the Gate of Babylon could finish off Volcanica—who was practically an empty shell—and had the protagonist use Ea instead. That was the moment I realized this fanfic is of even lower quality than Chinese web novels.) I honestly keep reading because the concept of a female Reinhardt is incredibly appealing and fun, but the rest of it just isn't worth it. I do not recommend this fanfic if you want something good to read, relax with, or pass the time; I only recommend it if you want to get stressed out. From the bottom of my heart.
