not the usual cultivation novel. modern man transported to a medieval fantasy (kinda...) setting. world-building is fine, but people are too malleable- almost utopic once they join the fold. once you drink roland's kool-aid, you become good, loyal, and obedient. everyone is quick to rid themselves of their old beliefs in the face of roland's greatness. as for the witches... there are no useless witches! considering their random powers- all of them have very specific talents, that roland needs. anna's control of fire is so fantastic- since a normal person can't draw a perfectly straight line- so much more for a circle! but anna does so with extreme consistency. anna is a walking cad/cam factory! i like the novel. those are just my gripes. far better than the usual "young master" enemy that turns into whole sect extermination stories.
