every star that falls

Overall, an excellent novel which falls short of Transcending the Nine Heavens, but not irredeemably short. The author's excellent, so even if he screws up a bit, the work at most falls to a four star instead of a five star. I just wish the translator would stop translating 'Soldiers' as 'Militants'. God damn it, the main image of militants is terrorists with guns! Every time I see the word 'Militant', my mood falls. The empire armies are starting to feel like groups of terrorists vying for territory.

the story is, overall, 3 to 4 stars. It's good but falls into some known tropes. Read the raws tho and this is insanely cleaned up, so just for that, I'm giving a 5 star
