which football novels focus on underdog team victories

First of, i am not a football fan. I just like reading sports related novels. I also btw read his 1st novel which i finished(since it was just short and the promised sequel did not happen). For this one though, i kinda put it on "hiatus". It really got me hooked at the beginning. I love the characters, the onpoint and exciting action within the game.. The hunt for the team members..it has excitement, drama and fleshed put characters. But lately i can not relate since it became a type of fanfic. The author used real life players and managers which became a big part of the story. More like a historical documentary of what happened during those years in real life football. Football fans would really love these parts. but since the focus shifted away from the manager and his team alot, which is what i really care about, i lost interest.

This is one of the best football novels I've ever read. I just wish there had been a bit more romance and a few extra chapters about the MC's life after the ending. Aside from football, there's not much focus on the MC's personal life, but that's understandable since it's a pure football novel.

I like OP character. So 👍👍👍👍👍 But out of football he has zero character.👍 His social life is null and void.💢 Zero slice of life and absolute zero romance. 💢💢 His support team, doctor, nutritionist, personalised coaches etc are gone because he didn't have them to begin with.💢💢💢 Too much focus on football matches.👍 WQ-4 minor mistakes of poison filtering. Plus is that there's no "china number one" at all. Even when china is mentioned, it's not worth mentioning. The story is entirely focused on MC's love for liverpool and his desire to world cup as a spain team member. Downside is that the romance is basically in the background with little mention. Obviously, it doesn't really matter much since this is a football fanfic. MC's focus is football. All in all, it's probably one of the most enjoyable experience among many fanfics where MC basically plays in a foreign team, plays for a non eastern country in world cup and still somehow praises china to death. The story's focus on his friendship with other players within his team and with his agent is probably one of the biggest reason im rating it so highly. Also, there's no racist bs. None.

This is one of the ONLY football stories I’ve seen that effectively balances on and off field plot. Most focus on just games, which is fine, but it ruins the immersion and doesn’t properly develop characters. This has both, which I greatly appreciate. - No classic AI slop - No translation wording - No nationalism - PERFECT mix of football knowledge, development, and off field content WELL DONE.
