Jiangxi Nanchang 10 cents grannyThe "10 cent grandma" in Nanchang was called Cheng Yingqing. She ran a food stall near a school in Baihua Zhou Street, Donghu District, Nanchang City. For 36 years, she insisted on not raising the price. The snacks that used to cost ten cents a skewer were still ten cents a skewer. The snacks included lotus root slices, bean paste, ham, seaweed, and so on. Her homemade snacks were very popular. Although the ingredients were ordinary, the sauce was sour and spicy, which was the taste that many people had when they were young. Her stall opened at 4:00 p. m., and by 3:00 p. m., it was already full of people. The queue could stretch out 100 meters, and if one wanted to eat snacks, they had to queue for an hour. She was awarded the honorary titles of Nanchang City's moral model and Jiangxi Province's moral model. She was also selected for the "China Good People List". She didn't make snacks to make money. As long as people liked to eat them, she wanted to keep making them. Many people were touched by her spirit of not forgetting her original intentions. Now that she was 73 years old, she was still running a stall. However, due to her age and limited energy, some people urged everyone not to blindly follow her, lest her grandmother work too hard. Many customers wanted to pay more or not get change, but she refused. Her food stall attracted a lot of people, including celebrities such as Deng Chao and Chen He, who also came to punch their cards. Some people flew in from Hei Longjiang to punch their cards. Some people brought children to find the taste of their childhood. Some people went to the stall to broadcast live and shoot videos. In 2020, Deng Chao even filmed her in the variety show he participated in.
