La Traviata was a French literary work that revealed the dark side of French society and the distortion of human nature by describing the relationship between the protagonist, Albert de Saint-Exupéry, and the upper-class women in Paris. Through reading this book, I deeply realized the dangers of social class and gender discrimination. In the novel, Saint-Exupéry, as a poor painter, was unable to obtain the love and social status he wanted. However, the women who were of equal social status to him had no interest in him and instead imposed many insults and abuse on him. This made me understand that sexism and class discrimination were very common in French society at that time, and many people's fates were greatly affected. In addition, the book also revealed the hypocrisy and depravity of French society at that time. The nobles in the novel looked elegant and noble, but they were actually full of selfishness and greed. For their own interests, they did not hesitate to deceive and oppress others, even destroying the justice and morality of society. This made me realize that there were many hypocritical and depraved phenomena in French society at that time that needed our vigilance and reflection. To sum up, through reading "La Traviata", I deeply realized the harm of social class and sexism, as well as the hypocrisy and degeneration of French society at that time. This gave me a deeper understanding of society and human nature at that time, and it also had a great impact on my life and values in the future.
