Nice, easy chapter to read. The "wrong file" mix-up is a solid classic setup for getting Kael and Noah in the same room repeatedly without it feeling forced, and the office banter between them has a nice rhythm, especially Kael's dry deadpan against Noah's flustered energy. The scent thread woven through as Kael's slowly realizing the truth about Noah works well as a hook, giving the reader something to anticipate even in a pretty low-key first chapter. A few small things to tighten up: the dialogue tags get repetitive and a little clunky in the party scene (lots of "noah said" back to back), and formatting is inconsistent between italics for narration and straight text for dialogue, which gets a bit hard to follow in a few spots. Otherwise, good chemistry between the leads and a clean, truly promising start
