The Story of Luka ModricLuka Modric was born in the small town of Zadar in 1985. His parents were workers in a woolen factory. As the eldest son of the family, he often helped his grandfather herd sheep. In 1990, he accidentally entered a documentary about wolves.
Modric's childhood changed dramatically due to the civil war in the former yulia. His grandfather was killed by extremists, and he and his parents became refugees. However, football became a way for him and his friends to relieve their stress, even though the field was an empty space that had been blown up. In the 1998 World Cup, the first time that Sofia participated in the World Cup, Modric was determined to become a professional player. However, his thin figure was not considered suitable for playing football by many people.
At the age of 18, Modric became a member of the first team of Dinamo Split, but he was loaned out everywhere for the next three years. In 2005, he returned to Dinamo Split and gained a firm foothold. In the 2007 - 08 season, he scored 15 goals and was selected for the UEFA European Championship. His performance in the UEFA European Championship earned him an invitation from Tottenham Hotspur when he was 23.
When he first arrived at Tottenham Hotspur, he was not favored, but he proved himself with his skills and running, and his teammate Lennon praised him. In 2010, Tottenham Hotspur returned to the Champions League, and Modric's ability was seen by more people and attracted the attention of the big clubs. In 2012, he received a text message from Mourinho and a phone call inviting him to join Real Madrid.
His poor performance in the first season after joining Real Madrid was rated as the worst signing. However, in the 2012 - 13 Champions League knockout game, he was a substitute and scored a goal against Manchester United, which became a turning point in his Real Madrid career. Since then, he played more and performed better.
Modric also had a lot of experience in the national team. On June 25, 2024, in the third round of the UEFA European Championship Group B match between Greece and Italy, he made up for his mistakes after missing a penalty kick to help the team lead, but was tied by Italy in the 98th minute. At 38 years old and 289 days old, he became the oldest goalscorer in the history of the UEFA European Championship. This was also his fourth European Championship goal, tying Perisic as the most goalscorer in the UEFA European Championship. Even though he had created history, he could not save the team's fate of advancing from the group stage.
