Greed, anger, infatuation, angerGreed, anger, and obsession were the three poisons in Buddhism, also known as the three impurities and the three fires. Greed refers to excessive obsession with likes and dislikes, anger refers to excessive obsession with dislikes, and infatuation refers to the fundamental unreasonable reality and reacting to greed or anger. These three kinds of troubles were the root causes of obstacles to cultivation and would cause people to sink into the cycle of life and death. Anger or ReflectionAnger and reflection were two different emotional reactions or behavior states.
Anger is a strong emotional experience that usually occurs when people are treated unfairly, immoral, or their rights are violated. For example, in the terrorist attack in Turkey, the international community was angry at the inhumane acts of terrorists, and many countries expressed strong condemnation. This kind of anger could motivate people to fight against unhealthy phenomena and push society in the direction of fairness and justice.
Reflection was an act of thinking deeply and reviewing and analyzing oneself or things. For example, after a conflict occurred in the team at work, people could reflect on the problems of poor communication and poor self-regulation at work, and then seek solutions. When an individual was criticized, reflection would also help them recognize their own mistakes and shortcomings, thus improving their self-cultivation and behavior.
In different situations, anger and reflection may be related. For example, one might be angry about an incident and then reflect on it to find a solution to the problem, or one might realize that one should not be angry during the process of reflection and adjust their emotions accordingly.
