the tale of the wooden doll

A wooden doll caricature usually has exaggerated facial features and proportions for a humorous or artistic effect.

Finally, Xiang Liu gave the wooden big-bellied doll to Nian. This big-bellied doll was made by Xiang Liu himself. It was carved out of Fusang wood and had an ice crystal ball in its belly. Inside the ice crystal ball was a blue sea. There were small fish, corals, and shells in the sea. Sitting on the shells were a female mermaid (symbolizing Xiaoyao) and a male mermaid (symbolizing Tushan Jing). In the corner was a male mermaid (symbolizing Xiangliu himself). Beside this male mermaid were the words "Strong self-protection, someone to rely on, somewhere to go, I wish you a happy and worry-free life." Xiang Liu set up a formation with his blood. He used dozens of Sunstones that had extracted the essence of sunlight for tens of thousands of years as a guide to urge his spiritual power to let the Fusang juice be absorbed by the smiling doll. This way, the two incompatible things could merge together. Even ordinary people without spiritual power could get this doll. Xiang Liu gave the pot-bellied baby to Ah Nian because he didn't have a more suitable candidate. Ah Nian and Xiang Liu had a good relationship, and he was worthy of Xiang Liu's trust. Ah Nian kept his promise and didn't tell Xiang Liu the origin of the pot-bellied baby. Had he not watched enough of Long Lovesickness 2?
