Hi! I just came across INTERLINKED: BIOWEAPON S, and Svetlana's chaotic, freezing Siberian mornings hit with such genuine charm right away. The whole family breakfast scene, her dad threatening to send her math teacher to the gulag over bad grades while her little sister begs for a real vacation instead of a "bathtub Natsu," built such a warm, funny found-family dynamic before anything ominous even creeps in. Sir Sergey's introduction flashback was such a great tonal anchor, this terrifyingly composed instructor walking in from twelve countries of teaching experience, coldly declaring "fear breeds focus" and demanding to be called "Sir" instead of any Soviet formality, immediately reframing the whole classroom's dynamic. And the cheat-sheet exam scene afterward was genuinely tense in the best way, Svetlana's heart pounding as Sir Sergey loomed behind her chair and dumped her backpack out mid-search, right as those small hints of something bigger, a strange buzzing in her skull for two weeks, and Polina's odd throwaway mention of rats, rot, and snakes spreading through major world cities, quietly seed the larger mystery underneath all the comedy. I do manga-style commission art, and stories built around this kind of slice-of-life comedy slowly threading into a much darker, slow-burn conspiracy are exactly what I love drawing. I'd love to create art of Svetlana frozen mid-panic as Sir Sergey looms over her desk with her exam paper held to the light, or the quiet, chilling moment of Sir Sergey's silhouette first stepping through the classroom door in that heavy grey overcoat and red armband.
