These are my opinions as an American woman who doesn’t fully understand the author’s culture. Okay, look, I do think this story is good at times. The plot is dramatic, the characters can be engaging, and the corporate aspect is entertaining. That being said, the “Taming of the Shrew” vibe leads to some problematic and possibly triggering chapters in which the ML’s physical persistence AGAINST the FL’s consent comes across as blatant sexual harassment. There’s gaslighting, confinement, and serious consent issues. Now, with all THAT said, I do like this novel in general. Does it portray the development of a healthy relationship? Not at all. Is it entertaining with a strong and (arguably) smart female lead? Yeah.
