I batted at the curl of smoke drifting off the tip of my candle and tried not to sneeze. My heavy velvet cloak fell in oppressive, suffocating folds in the closed space of the ceremony chamber, the cowl trapping the annoying bits of puff I missed. I hated the way my eyes burned and teared, an almost constant distraction. Not that I didn't welcome the distraction, to be honest. Anything to take my mind from what went on around me.
Being part of a demon raising is way less exciting than it sounds.

Okay, I don't know if this is AI or not, because the MC and the characters seem very "alive," not that robotic and bland type. I don't even know if it's Chinese, at least it seems to be original. However, there's a lot of use of the em dash _, which is normally an AI thing, but it could just be edited by AI, so author, if you wrote it and it's not AI, please clarify in my comment. Aside from that, the story is very good, the interaction between the characters is good, it has a slight comedic element, and the MC is very rational and strong, undoubtedly very interesting. One small complaint is that the author didn't say what the MC looks like, he said he has a certain "skin," but didn't say what it is... nor his powers, other than that it's okay.
