Started this off thinking it was going to be a sweet story, but boy, was I wrong. Firstly, I love the slight contrast between Zarqa and Ali Baba, with Zarqa being raised by her dad while Ali Baba was being raised by his mother, both of them having lost one other parent. Secondly, this book has one of the best transitions I have ever read ok the platform. The dark elements that not only feature fantasy but also touch on the reality of humans makes this feel all the more real.
