An amazing world of cultivation. A majestic world where miracles happen. There is a warrior who defies destiny and forge his own path facing innumerable difficulties ahead. Come and join the life of the person who will go against the set destiny of the cruel world and become something extraordinary. ===== Extraordinary my foot. What is this illogical cr*p? Does it even make sense? If you are doctor, then work in a hospital. What the hell are you doing going after girls? If you are a commander in the army, then bring your army to get revenge on those who wronged you. Why go through the trouble of pretending to be a weakling. You are a useless son in law? Your wife's family thinks you are good for nothing? Then how the hell did you score her in the first place?!!! If they like money so much and you are a hidden millionaire, then why in the name of sanity would you hide this fact and be berated every day?!!! The hell is all this?!!! The more I read it, the more illogical it becomes. Like this all came straight out of someone's as-- [Host, why don't you calm down?] 'You shut up!!! You're the reason I'm stuck here in the first place!!!!' [Host, you need anger management] 'THE FU*K DID YOU SAY?!!!!!' ===== Hello everyone! This is my second novel and so far, nothing is decided. I like Maude's power. It's really, really strong for what it is, and matches how he handles things. That being said, I can't help but feel that the MC does not seem to feel the slightest tinge of empathy for anyone or anything, say for a few lines where it expressed his regret for something. I'm around Chapter 50, and it doesn't feel like he's built a relationship with any character thus far. He doesn't exactly respect Saul, even attempting to go behind his back the day after in an attempt to use the recently auctioned Graded Sword despite Sol's firm refusal on the matter. Although, I do understand his frustration, as Sol seems to be adamant on Maude focusing on marksmanship solely. It is a con of having a broken ability he has to hide. That being said, his lack of empathy is a real problem when it comes to feeling attached to his character in any meaningful way. His brutal methodology shown 50 chapters in thus far means that casualties are not exactly anything to worry about, or that's how I seem to interpret it. Case in point; the Fishman Slave. Maude had no real way of knowing the Fishman's story, and despite the Fishman killing pirates outside of the auction house, it was a clear case of self-defense, in my point of view. Regardless of that, Maude had already made up his mind to kill the Fishman Slave with the sole reasoning behind his thinking behind the killing doubling as an experiment, and also pure greed for power. It makes it... quite hard to sympathize when it feels like the MC is both remorseless, nor bound by morals. I feel like he wouldn't bat an eye at a random casualty. That being said, that's just my cup of tea. I won't dock many points for a simple preference in the MC's ideology, even if I may find it flawed. This, combined with the rather slow pacing of the story, which I don't usually mind if other things are present, make it feel like I'm just watching someone kill solely for the sake of growing stronger, no real goal in sight. I don't feel any sense of attachment to the story 50 chapters in. Good story, just not my preferred style.
