Maine Island Club : The Adventurous Madame

"I will be there on your graduation day." "As long as I am here, no one is going to hurt. I'm your protector remember?" "I will not let a tear fall in your eyes." "I will never leave you." "I'm doing this for you, for us. Three years is not that long. I will be back before you know it." "I promise." Lance gave a lot of promises. Some were just too good to be true but Lisa just loved him that much to trust him like that. But those promises were broken. One... by... one... He left. He promised to come back after three years. But seven years had long been gone but he's nowhere of sight. Until a day came that he just showed up in their house like a mushroom. Thanks though to her father who excitedly invited him. Is he back for good? Is he not going to leave again? Lisa was excited upon seeing him like she could just easily forgive and forget everything that happened. But the past events kept replaying in her mind that she just wanted to burst in anger. Why did he have to show up again at this point of time that she was already okay? But maybe, she might just need to follow her best friend's advice - Show him that he doesn't mean anything to you anymore. And she just did what she was told. After all, he was just a mere visitor. Maybe a few hours of his presence won't kill her. And she only needs to avoid him and make sure they won't cross their paths ever again. She was already okay without him after all. Or that's only what she thought? Because little did Lisa know that Lance would temporarily be living in their house for three months? And he'll be working im Stellar (their family legacy) from then on! Will Lisa still be able to avoid him? And how will she fulfill her father's ultimate wish for a grandchild? While living in the same house, needing to cooperate for fixing the chaos in the company and collaborating on the project of the century, "Maine Island Club", who is gonna win? The one chasing for escape? Or the one chasing for genuine forgiveness?

This is a pretty good read but I just have two gripes. One why didn't Ori see ask the collective if they could do anything to save Ori. I mean not giving her nanites or anything but maybe possibly using the injector with the objective of healing Dorio and then reabsorbing the nanites used. Sorry but with how fantastic the nanites are they should have a way to heal someone right, or maybe he would have to acquire another cyberware for the function of healing someone else. Two why did Ori just let Maine go off and do his own thing when he is clearly losing it. He could just knock him out or restrain him and take him to a ripperdoc to get his cyberware removed. He could easily do it too since he takes down Maine almost instantly in a straight up fight. If he snuck up on Maine, Maine could probably be knocked out instantly. This may seem like an overreaction, but think about the fact that they lost Six to cyberpsychosis due to doing nothing. Sure they would be down a fighter, but they know he is going psycho so if they just do nothing they know they would lose him anyway. Then after letting Maine just do whatever he wants, Ori just lets Pilar go by himself to check out how Maine's doing with no backup or any insurance. Seriously Ori could've just gone and kept an eye on the situation considering how serious it is, but no he doesn't. Leading to them losing Maine and Pilar, and Rebecca having to deal with the loss of her brother. As well as the fact she was the one to put down Six and Maine. Honestly the way I remember it they wouldn't be able to take out all of Six's cyberware possibly not enough to stop him going psycho considering how borged out he was. So him dying too cyberpsychosis is understandable, but I think Maine's cyberware could've been removed making his death avoidable and Pilar's death super avoidable. Sorry for the rant but I really need to point this out since it was really annoying to me, but besides those two things this is a good cyberpunk ff. If I didn't like it I wouldn't have the energy to write a rant like this.

Maine authors' fiction also tends to focus on the lives of ordinary people. They explore the relationships, struggles, and joys of local residents. In Elizabeth Strout's works, she often delves into the family dynamics and personal growth of her characters in a small - town Maine setting. It gives a very down - to - earth feel to the stories.
