I'm still at the beginning of the second volume, and it's a good story, but it's very technical and mechanical. Well, if you like something serious and quite political like me, this is for you. The only negative point is the lack of emotion in the action, which shouldn't happen, even in the battles. Where's the bloodshed? The mounted archers? I know the main character didn't participate in that and saw the scene from a distance like a good general, so the author could have included the soldier's point of view to make it more interesting. I might be exaggerating a bit here, but I just finished reading all five books of Conn Iggulden's Conqueror's Saga.
