By devouring others and surviving endless slaughter, Hollows can transcend their limits—transforming from mindless beasts into Menos, then Adjuchas, and finally the near-mythical Vasto Lorde. Each step upward demands not only power, but the suppression of madness and the preservation of self. Most fail. Many lose their identities long before they lose their lives.
Sombravida refuses both outcomes.
Cornered by stronger predators, hunted by Soul Reapers, and trapped in a desert where strength is law, he sharpens his will through adversity. He learns restraint where others succumb to frenzy. He learns patience where others rush toward annihilation. In a realm that strips monsters of reason, Sombravida clings to consciousness as his greatest weapon.
Fate, however, is never kind to those who struggle upward.
Just as Sombravida begins to carve out a place for himself, the world reminds him that labels—Human, Hollow, monster—are nothing more than excuses used by the powerful. In the eyes of the realms, existence itself is a sin.
But if humanity is defined by origin alone, then what meaning does survival have?
