Any suggestions for a medieval (king/knight not eastern) novel with romance? Something with better pacing than this?

I love the science fiction mixed with potential conspiracy theories. Further more the chapters all are linear and do not contain filler like other books. The romance can probably be more descriptive and the wars are pretty good.
