The Many Faced Man

Countless Asteroids rain down on Humanity, appearing from seemingly nowhere. Along with these asteroids come a Zombie Plague, Predators, and intelligent and strong enemies out of legends. However, along with these things come opportunities. Countless strains of energy and phenomenon beyond common sense appear in the world alongside these dangers. Survive, kill, and you can unlock the rumored 'System' for yourself. However, if one needs at least one hundred kills to unlock the system, how many can possibly survive to such an end? Among the few survivors is an every-day young man, with nothing overtly different about him on the surface. In his youth, he saw the dead all about him, saw a world no one should. He believed what he saw was all a delusion, childhood imagination, convinced himself so despite the vivid memories which said no. If it were real, what he did in that world was real, then what would that make him? Now, in the apocalypse, the dead walk the earth overtly. He can no longer deny what he is, a man whose face changed, so as not to scare others. A man, who denied what he was, and lied to those around him. A person, so close to death, he would some day become feared as death itself. But, death is only the beginning. (In the process of re-writing a number of the earlier chapters, will erase this part when I am done, I had wrote a number of these chapters when I had just started writing a few years ago... is my excuse, which is not a good one. There were a number of inconsistencies that were already there, which make me cringe looking back, but there are even more now due to re-write process... all of those inconsistencies should be resolved when I am done though. Sorry!)

The World Of The Mad Man

To others they could say that this young man has always been absent and dumb. When he hurt himself he always did not cry nor did he show any signs of pain, he just looked at his hand and just stare at the cut. When he was bullied, he never fought back, never told a teacher, nor even told his parent. All he did was just stare at the bullies with eyes that seemed to pierce their soul. When his parents divorced on his graduation day, he did not cry or beg them to get together. All he did was just stare at them both and smile. Even on his death bed, when his organs were failing, when his mind was dying. He didn't cry, he didn't say any regrets nor leave anything behind, all he did was just have a frown on his face. That frown was the only thing that people could say was normal about him before his eyes closed forever. Or at least that was how everyone saw him. But what they saw was far from the truth. The young man they saw since he was little boy or even as a adult was in truth never dumb or absent at all. No, no, no he was far from that. When he had a cut on his hand, he did not cry because he was curious as to what had caused him to get cut. The grass? But its so thin and soft, so how did it cut? It was because it was thin and soft that it was able to cut his hand. When his bullies punched him and pushed him, he did not try to save himself. Instead he just analyzed them. "So if I swing my arm like that, then it has enough force to bring this much pain to a body. If I hit that part, it will cause a person to gasp for breath." When his parents divorced, he didn't cry or beg them to get back together. He instead confirmed a theory going on his head since he was a five year old child. "I knew they were going to get divorce, it was so obvious since dad was always so quite and mom was so loud. They could never agree with one another, it was so obvious." When he was on the death bed he was in great pain and felt so weak. But he just frowned as he could not do one thing in his life or examine one thing at least. "How do people react to pain? How do people react to loss? How do people react to when they are at deaths door?" Those were his only thoughts when he closed his eyes. But his eyes would not be closed forever. No, no, no, they would soon open. And when they opened in the new world, would he be able to answer the questions he had made at his death bed and even more beyond it.
