I'm an Indian btw but I'll be open minded for now and won't berate the novel without reading it. Lol the appearance of the synopsis has created a battle between people who think the novel is racist and the ones that don't. Other than that I do not know about the story so for now I'll give an average review.

I am conflicted when mc is too patriotic like everything his nation does is great, like if I an American who yells, " America is great but all other countries are sh^t holes". I do not want to pay geopolitical politics while reading, I do not care about the mc views on other countries, I just want the story and plot. and this is for all American novels and movies, Japanese anime and manga, and Chinese web novel, please do not introduce foreign stereotypes if you have not been outside your own country and expect you know all and that you views are right. the best thing I want is less about cultural patriotism but more on their unique culture and ideas and stories that as a foreign reader will find fascinating. that is why the modern setting is hard to read especially when the story is geopolitical in some way.
Mhm I don't disagree with you, but this review was made back when the chapters weren't out so we didn't know if the novel actually had these elements in the first place. You know sometimes the synopsis is just to attract people and I for one know very well (being china's neighbours and sharing all servers in all games with them) that Chinese people always act high and mighty and actually think they are better than the rest of us.... So wouldn't it be nice to attract people by berating other countries maybe thought author...

Heck there was once I asked a chinese guy in a game if he could tell me a good website to learn mandarin and that guy straight up says "You don't deserve to learn our great language..." and I was like 0_0 dafug dude and after a few minutes of probing I also found out that the only way Chinese people know how to abuse is either call you poop or call your mom a slut.... After which I destroyed him to the point I never saw him in kingdom chat again *shrugs
