That's probably an apt description. Its a rags to riches story, except it happens practically overnight. The MC is down on his luck and kind of a laughingstock within his village one day, then the next he's rich and respected by everyone and his parents go from telling him to stop wasting his time and get a job to telling him what a great son he is and how he must be a genius.

Eh, not really. It's more that the MC's power comes from unexpected sources. Finding an ancient artifact, an AI chip, meeting a crazy old man who turns out to be a super sage, even a gift from god are all sources of "cheats." But in this case it really just appears for no real reason. In this story the MC just touches an herb (that's literally what the author described it as, we're never told what the plant is or if it's special in any way) and we get this: "Detecting herbs…the triggering condition has been reached. Should we activate the system? " That's it. The condition is to touch a plant. The MC even asks what the system is and the answer is basically "Ok."
