Before you go on a three paragraph rant about how I'm an uncultured swine who can't understand this "complex" fast-paced novel please be patient with me, or don't, either way, it doesn't make a difference. This novel is a pretty much-overdone cliche of the vicious cycle of "revenge" with a sprinkle of poor writing. Put down your torches let me elaborate. Pitchfork down? ok so essentially, the basic introduction of the plot is the overdone checklist of cliches, a beautiful unrivaled girl who no other can rival? check. Betrayal of a said beautiful girl or literally anyone close to him? check. What's this he's also trash but somehow the reason he's trash is cuz of a thing no one else has and now he's gonna prove the haters wrong? check. Merit is to be made that cliches were created because they work and blah blah blah, please shut up the only reasons cliches work is because it panders towards a certain demographic and said demographics are also the types to forgive this godawful terrible blight on storytelling. The concept is the only thing supporting this work, like for Allah's sake the characters are so god damn one dimensional, not a single one person has a fucking personality, not a one, and no calling someone trash over and over again or being slapped in the face does not count as them having a personality. That my friend is just a face slap, gosh i think the author of this work only creates characters to face slap and boy, do they get face slapped quite a fair bit. TLDR; Cliche Tropes overused, a boring world(like seriously all i know about this world is that a lot of sects exist and that they have an epic gladiator arena) and poor character development. I would rather read those CEO novels instead as they are forced to actually make the readers engage and care for their characters.

I can take a look for fun later if you're still writing it. Which story was it? Elemental Swordsman or Village Chief Dragon?

Elonta:I kinda want you to check out my novel. I want someone like yourself to tell me what my writing is lacking before I get too set in my ways. I want to make my novel something good, great if possible. But since it's my first I can't help but wonder if it's good, whether objectively or literally. I hope you would check it out and give me an honest critique on it.

I can't really argue with any of that. However, I'd love to hear you name a single novel on this entire site that doesn't fit that description in one way or another. They're all filled with overused tropes and one or two dimensional characters. It's just a question of which one of those cliches you like today.

Fair enough, let's see ah yes the popular "Strongest system" that's chalked full of cliches but never have i been so entertained by the silly antics of the MC. It never takes itself too seriously, until it does and even then it somehow subverts you from its cliches because believe it or not a novel can be more than its cliches, the amount of antics in this one is quite charming and ill acknowledge its weaknesses, the overdone trope of a system, the occasional fodder, and the one dimensional characters or villains but never did i stop to think, "Predicted it" the author is as shameless as his lead and that brings a plethora of interesting situations, but for "Legend of Swordsman" its just a rehash of the same stories i have read on WuxiaWorld doubled down. This trope used is so overdone someone actually created a novel based around an MC reincarnated as the Typical Wunxia villain that this author likes to use and he has to survive in that plot armor filled world, quite charming that one Oh, seems i derailed a bit there no? apologies, basically yeah every novel here is guilty of one trope or another but none of them use it as a crutch or THE defining feature to move the plot or at least doesn't have anything that sets it apart from the other generic garbage that's better written.

I've seen that one before. The harem tag was enough for me to not read it since I'm overly tired of harems as is. Harem pretty much screams crutch to me. But nothing about it sounds original or unpredictable. Granted though, I haven't read it so I can't prove it. If it didn't have the harem tag, I probably would have read it long ago. It's at least not polygamy, so I might still read it someday.

Fair enough, if i had seen that tag sooner i would have skipped it altogether, but I'm glad i didn't because if i remember correctly the MC is faithful which is surprising for this type of novel anyways, try it, it is quite humorous. However, it's quite a long ride so buckle up, if you do end up reading it

It's actually on my waiting list. So there is a good chance I'll read Strongest System eventually. We'll see though. I've mostly quit reading novels from this site that aren't finished or close to finished. That and I've been somewhat busy recently.

I probably won't have any big issues with it. I'm fairly easy going as long as the main character isn't a **** bag. And, I don't ever remember reading something that was unpredictable for me. There are no characters in a book who can't die or betray the others. Once you truly realize that, nothing is unpredictable. It just becomes a question of which path the author will take. Which for me basically means, what's the author's mentality. What does he praise, what does he look down on. What are his values, etc. I read things for completely different reasons than most others I guess, lol.

You can read “The Path toward Heaven”, hands down the best work on Webnovel. It’s a novel that takes all the cliches and throw them into hell. Maybe the only novel that kept me guessing wtf was going to happen every fking chapter. Every character has his own morals and behave like a goddam human being instead of a 2D program bot. Oh, and there is no harem, no chasing girls, no random idiot that discover a 100k years old divine method to become the strongest idiot in the universe. It feels like a real cultivation world with normal ppl *****ing with eachother for understandable reasons, just with schemes, tons of schemes, schemes scheming other schemes only to get schemed. You got the idea? :D

I'm glad I'm not the only person who can see the fact that this type of novel is overdone. Granted that if this is someone's first experience with the genre or style, it is not a truly terrible novel. I save that title for some other atrocities. If you read a lot of web novels, it just becomes easier to recognize. I've read at least two dozen novels with a similar if not identical plot line.

You can’t call someone faithful when they literally have a garment. The only reason he’s faithful is because he prbly is able to marry whoever he cheats with.

Nope. Not even close. Release that Witch is Harem, which instantly disqualifies it. Even if Kingdom's Bloodline is okay, I don't feel like reading a rape story. I've already read enough of those, unwillingly or not, which for the record, disqualifies it as well. Reverend Insanity... Its tags have changed. I'm almost completely sure it previously had harem or polygamy tags. But, that aside, it's 2k+ chapters and still going. There's almost no way it's going to be decent by the time it's over. That's way too many chapters. Probably half of them are filler, much like some other stories people like to give me, it's probably utterly packed with filler and nonsense in some of the later chapters, if not the current chapters.

Helloslip:Release that witch, reverend insanity, kingdom's bloodline,

I disagree the author is doing a fine job with this novel, the MC did now even got to save his father.

I don't look for them dipstick. I actually make sure to put them in the "no" box of any advanced search if it lets me. But a lot of the popular things are usually harem.
