Rating 1 star for everything just because of the crappy translation choices the translator has made, su clan seventh? Really? As a name you think that's okay?

True. The translator could just go with how the previous translator did things.

I Get what you mean, but i kinda prefer it this way. He is not a character that pops up often, so it is an easy to remember name.

No. Su clan seven is not even a proper name. Maybe in chinese but not in english.

it's like someone calling you 12B26 just because you are in 12th b class and in chart you are 26th...

But it isn't his actual name.

The translation is pretty consistent. Real names are left alone and dao names are translated. I prefer it this way because a dao name is a sort of nickname for other cultivators to use and therefore the translated version adds more context to the person that name belongs to. And a lot of Chinese writers tend to use the meaning of a (dao) name in jokes and those jokes will become very difficult to follow for the non Chinese speaking readers.

I've read it until 2600+ and now I honestly think that it's okay to translate the Daoist titles. Some of the funny remarks lose their sprite if no one understands the actual names. Su Clans Seventh is a title. Most of the Su disciples get a kind of normal name but the numbered ones are very strong and very special disciples. They have numbered generation after generation and each generation follows into the next number. It's like Henri II, III and IV herein western standards. Later on, with the start of more chat activities and when Shuhang decides on his very own Daoist name (I can't spoil here), I find it very important to understand the meanings of a name, but since there are so many names to remember (too many characters added over time), it's better to translate them right away than to set footnotes every time. You have to get used to it, but once that's done, the translated names are useful (and in my honest opinion, way easier to remember :D)

A literal translation would've made more sense. I am up to date wirh the raws and the translation here is so ****ty that it ruined the puns. Mad sabre three waves- waves no more than three (it's almost like a running gag which is ruined by the translation to thrice reckless). Mountain of books_huge pressure to Stressed by a mountain of books. Does that even sound like a screen name for a chat-room? And this also ruins puns to come in the later chapter. There are tons of these problems which ruin the translation. Since you have already read it, you ought to understand it. Right? To properly enjoy a work of literature, sometimes you have to leave things as they are or give a literal translation. Otherwise it's gonna end up as disastrous as this translation. For those thinking that the story is good. OF COURSE it's the best story out there. That's why it's so darn popular even though the translation is worthless. I assure you, had they done the translation properly, it would've been a thousand times better.

I think they explain it later that people from the clan give up their names when they take on a numbered title....or something like that, I might be wrong
