Um, how is getting turned into a literal demi-god and gets to live forever not count as compensation? Money has no meaning to the Xi Ling Empire, and it ceases to be for the MC as well the moment he joined. His basics are all covered by the Empire, he gets divine artifacts like Golden Apples as monthly bonuses, that's more than enough compensation for any former earthly mortals. He doesn't live in a palace and surround himself with treasures because he chooses not to, not because he can't.

What would he need? All material wealth is covered, he can have an entire planet if he wants.
