The first five chapters were enough to make me decide to follow this novel closely. The translation quality is good although there are instances when I get confused on who's talking or who's thinking. (But I think that's on me.) I hope Qidian adds more Romance Novels in it's roster. You're missing out on a big market!

LIKEPersonally I find romance novels insulting, most of the time. They always portray the women as so weak, or just so easily subdued, and at best they portray a strong woman that in the end has to ask 'her man' for permission for any little thing. The harem or martial novels might be on the shallower side of romance, but at least they don't make the MC, whom we are supposed to respect and 'portray' ourselves as, to be a total useless *****. I really hope this doesn't turn out that way, but given just synopsis we already know how weak she is, but who knows, maybe a twist will come and she won't become a male harem whore or a useless figurehead unfit to be called to an MC, even at Japanese standards.

Lol actually many of the popular and most successful WNs in Qidian own very brilliant and sophisticated female characters. Readers just don't like weak or silly characters .
strixflash:I'm also hoping that the female lead wouldn't be struck to the Chinese philosophy of ideal wife.

Mind telling me what the case is? I am very interested. Will this be a political story, a battle story, a cultivation story, a pure romance that involves 'misunderstandings/running away'.... etc etc etc.
MangoCat:I can guarantee that that is definitely not the case :P
Not a xianxia or xuanhuan. Pure human capabilities only. It's not totally romance-centered, though there is romance. The protagonists main motive is getting revenge, so that's what it'll be focused on.

Thank you for the reply, I'll give it a chance then, it's been a long long time since I've read a purely human story.

Definitely would love to see more romance novels with the female lead kicking ass instead of always being submissive to the male lead taking charge - have any suggestions besides this novel that you've read? (So many novels with "black belly" male lead "bullying" the female lead! Sigh.)

Right, i don't like reading novels of female protangonist because of this exact reason. No matter how 'strong-willed', 'fiery-temper' or 'cold as ice' the mc is, she'll still turn out into mush in some dudes hands because of some stupid reason. Romance novels are really shallow, wish they all had the quality of clannad.

Honestly I feel most female MCs in these romance novels are the exact same as the shallow harem members other novels pick up like dirt, just since we have to watch it through their eyes they don't feel 100% shallow, only 85% shallow.

There are a bunch of novels where the female lead is downright cruel. Have you read Princess Weiyong yet? If you hadn't then I suggest you go read it, she is far from shallow and weak, and the way she tortures her enemies in the raws is gruesome. There really is no harem in the story and only a female lead who wants to kill and destroy all those who wronged her. If you want a novel with a strong female lead this one is a good one. :) just now There are a bunch of novels where the female lead is downright cruel. Have you read Princess Weiyong yet? In this case, there's a popular one called, ''the direct broadcast of a female emperor." I'm not sure whether if it's in QI but it's a good one in Chinese, definitely meet your needs.
