I'll divide this review in multiple points: 1) Before I even began reading the novel I already liked the Author by the way he answered to each review. Accepting critics and defending his work with courtesy instead of stubbornly believing his novel is perfect like a lot of authors do. This is the kind of Author I would gladly support. 2) He's a biologist, my father is a biologist and I'm a biochemist, do I need to say more? (Okay, I may be a little bit biased on this one) 3) I almost cried a couple times in the first 12 chapters, which is surprising if you think that in so few chapters you barely know the characters. This alone is proof enough that the Author is capable of tugging the right strings with his writing which is a lot harder than you'd think. 4) There are a few instances where descriptions are a little over embellished or repeated. It doesn't happen all the time so it's not a major problem, but if fixed it could improve the reading flaw, which is always worth it. 5) I agree with those who said that the MC sometimes doesn't feel like a 10yo, even after considering the context of the story, the world etc...For me personally it's not a problem but I admit that a 14yo would have been better, still slightly unrealistic but better than a 10yo. 6) The chapter recap is a waste of words in my opinion, it could be useful when bringing up an old pov that might have been "forgotten" but otherwise doing it every chapter is just redundant and not really useful for anything. 7) The comic interactions between characters are gold. 8) Characters are well made, they have good development and mostly realistic behavior. (considering the world setting) 9) Great story that mixes some conventional world building and mechanics with a nice amount of originality. The pace is a little slow for now but Author will pick it up soon enough. The novel is still in its early phase but it's really promising.
