LIKEMy concern has never been about whether he is offering the work for free, as you mentioned. It's about the author claiming originality while 100% borrowing someone else's plot outline, which is a very disappointing point. At least when the initial fourteen chapters are entirely based on existing content, some credit should be given to the original fanfiction author, don't you think?
If the author simply included a line in the description like: "Yes, the premise of this novel is based on another fanfiction's premise. Although the initial plot is the same: an assassin gets reincarnated with hypnosis and the ability to copy others' quirks, first messing with his own mother, then Deku's mother, and then Bakugo's mother. However, I will be adding my own original content later on", which should alleviate any concerns. The issue is that the author did not do this. Even when I asked him about it, he denied it and nervously deleted the comments, which is truly disappointing.
Honestly? there is no need to Is it the Positive thing to do? Sure it takes 30 seconds to put in "This is a Translation of a Chinese Fanfiction"
You're absolutely right. I know I am powerless to change this; I cannot change anything, and I do not have that expectation. I just feel that certain things should be done, so I did them. At least now I have made you aware of this matter, so I feel like my efforts have not been in vain :)
