: Donning a cringy academic hat : In Seraphelki’s book The Ogre Strength Fairy And The Eldest ‘Son’, a variety of authorial choices and literary techniques are used in combination with the author’s inspired imagination, ultimately delivering a story that takes the readers through an emotional journey with its relatable characters not just as an observer but as an active participant in the romantic adventure.  For characterization, the juxtaposition of the MC’s persona, as someone advanced enough to attempt the final ascension, and the young body she inhabits in the early part of the novel, creates a vibrant and multi-dimensional character who is both devious and sweet simultaneously.  Her love interest, Qat the eldest ‘Son’ - a girl masquerading as a boy - shares a similar mismatch of external appearance and inner self, which makes for an intriguing relationship between two girls who both have conflicting self-identities.  By allowing the readers to be a part of the trinity that shares this secret, an intimate connection is established between the readers and the characters, making the plot progress personally engaging.  The language is rich with sensory imagery and metaphors that perfectly deliver the adorable impression of young love. As the readers are led through the maturing process of the characters’ relationships and self-discoveries, the emotional investment grows and keeps the readers’ interest. The plot is paced with deliberation capitalizing on effective use of time skips that accommodate in-depth exploration of various growth stages of characters. The world-building and the lore are delivered in the form of discovery that closely follows the evolving path of the plot and character development, and is also augmented by the inclusion of humorous interviews with the author in stand-alone chapters who manages to stay in character fitting to the narrative style of the book itself.  The culmination of these factors results in a gripping narrative that captures the essence of both fantasy and romance genres with the added elements of a coming-of-age story.  Tl;dr - It’s a good book. Read it.

I absolutely love watching Elua's and Qat's relationship grow and deepen, as they slowly come to understand more about the other and support each other's growth. Lots of wonderful slice of life moments of our main couple along with their family, friends, and others that have the (mis)fortune to attract Elua's attention.

IM HOOKED. The plot is so intriguing, I love the subtlety I get while reading this.

The MC seems to be a hidden Mary Sue, and the person she is attaching herself to is clueless about it. Might be interesting. The point of the cross-dressing isn't very clear early on (By the end of C4). The cultivation stuff in the early chapters is off-putting, but it was a Yuri tagged with it so it makes sense to be there. Hoping for no Harem or Futa in the future! *fingers crossed*
