So glad I found this hidden gem whilst browsing the Cupid’s Quill event comments as multiple people recommended it! I was not disappointed, and it’s so well-written that I don’t mind the slower pace. I’m only halfway through what’s currently published, and I find myself eager to read more. My one small critique I have is it’s a bit lacking in the world building aspect since it is a fantasy romance novel, but that may change as the story progresses further. The characters, dialogue, and the overall premise of the story so far has my full attention, and I look forward to seeing where the author takes us with her story!

So I’ve gotten a bit further in the story now, and I must commend you on the way you’re building up the angst between Leonor and the Duke! It’s giving me the same feels as my all-time fave novel on here (UTOT) 🥺 so many misunderstandings between two broken individuals who deserve to be loved to the fullest extent. Guess I better get my coins ready so I can support you through privilege chapters 😉 I’ve been so into the story that I’ve been forgetting to leave comments. Queen is here with her new book and seriously I am just in love with the very different kind of plot and the unique characters she has created. On top of that writing quality is top-notch, fit for a romance novel showing a historical era. The Duke is all mysterious while Valerio is so loveable. Leonor is resilient and I can't wait to see how she will handle her marriage with the Duke and fold the mysteries of Leonor. What I admire about Queen's books is that you will always get a Green Flag ML you will fall in love with. Updates will be fast and she always finishes her books. So you can dive in without the fear of being left hanging. Good luck with the competition, I hope you win girl 🙌

The story is wonderful, the details of everything, the characters and their personality, the conversations are lively, making their interactions look real. It's 'low pace' in some moments although may not be of the taste of some readers, grants more details that others(like me) would like so don't worry too much. I would definitely recommend this book, even if you're not a fan of the genre you could get a surprise here.

Shameless self review from the author!! I hear you when you say the flashback is slow but I believe every bit of the flashback is necessary to laying down the groundwork of Leonor von Burien's story. You won't be able to grasp who she is alongside the mysterious duke if things are fleshed out a little bit prior. *it's over at 53 so don't sweat it too much!!* If you aren't a lover of details and slow burn then please don't read! This is for the slow burn fantasy lovers like me. For the lovers of green flag ML's and whether or not appearance matters in the realm of love. #bringbackmaleyearning #yearning2024

The story started off great, but the flashback was getting too long and it became boring. It's a nice story though. I wish we could see more of the FL's life now, than the flashbacks.
