Before I write this, I want to emphasize that this is a pretty decent book by Webnovel’s standards, and anyone who is hesitating should take the plunge and read it. There are very few fics in this fandom after all. This book made me pretty sad. Not because of the events in the plot, but because of the wasted opportunity here. A thousand-year-long Frieren romance has the potential to be one of the greatest fanfics of all time, but instead this book is mostly comprised of mediocre war drama and a speedrun to feudal late-stage capitalism via kingdom building. I wanted to see Frieren come to terms with the more human aspects of life while the MC grapples with the implications of becoming immortal, and to gleefully watch them fall in love with each other in the process. I truly hope Frieren fans get to see that one day, but it is not what you will find here.

I’m pretty sure this entire story was stolen, it has the exact same beginning as a Chinese novel by the name of Diary of a Dead Wizard or 死亡巫师日记. If you read the translated one you’ll see they have the exact same beginning except he added a few things to make it seem like it’s from frieren😭😭
