I only made it to chapter 7, so undoubtedly there is a lot more of this story to go for character growth and plot development etc. It’s not my vibe though, and I will explain my thoughts. Firstly, I have no respect or liking for either MC. The FL has been a doormat for 3 years because of her mom being on the brink of death. That means, in her forced marriage (ML raped her in a drug induced haze that she gets blamed for so they marry ofc..) she puts up with abuse from her MIL, sister in law, the servants, her father, step mom, other sister in law, and neglect and indifference from her husband. Her husband is fine with ignoring her if she gets dragged to the basement and beaten to unconsciousness by 5 servants at their home. He only starts to show interest in her when she starts to speak back to her MIL (after her mom dies) and hit/hurt 2 of the servants beating her to a pulp. Oh, now she is interesting to him 🤔🙄 So here we have why I can’t handle this. 3 years of abuse and hatred squarely dumped on FL. And now, back talking and fighting back makes the FL worthy of the mega rich and powerful husbands interest. Now, after her latest beat up, he will take her to bed (fort the first time carrying her out) and force 2 paracetamol down her unconscious throat when she starts running a fever. Wow! My hero! 🤥 Better still, next morning she stretches and bounces out of bed, ready to go out and face her day. Not one ache. Not one comment when she goes to hubbys business about her bruises or the gash to her head from the vase thrown at her the day before. Way to gloss over domestic violence. And the ML who has ignored all her torment and even contributed verbally… she is the one this FL will end up with! And she will never be able to win against him, his ego won’t tolerate that apparently. I just can’t.. 😅 Still, writing was good and story seems proofread. I just can’t stomach romanticising or minimising DV and what it does to you. If you want to hang around for her revenge, well I hope she makes it epic and makes them suffer!
