First of all, I'm not fixated on her, it's just how the story developed. Breaking his bethrothal (which he didn't choose) would mean shooting himself in the foot and strain relations with the North. Besides that, Edric doesn't have romantic feelings for her and is making the best of the situation. As for the legal women in question, who? Margaery, Sansa, Daenerys and most of the unmarried ladies are all under 18. It would be a better case but still fall under that umbrella. There is Arianne but she has a promiscuous past so it's a pick your poison situation. In an ideal world, Arya would be his age but ASOIAF is not an ideal world. Mr George planned a timeskip (a timeskip that never happened) which is why everyone is so young in general. You think I like Edric running around at the physical age of 10-11, winning wars? Newsflash, I don't. I originally didn't want to warp reality to make everyone older and stayed true to the source material so here we are.
