Isn’t Yang Wei too strong and old to be doing all of this? Like even starting at the bottom and the whole face slapping thing that seems to be about to start. Bro could be a special guest of the sect if he atleast tried to find out how his power stacks up against the cultivators to find his current limit. Or even leave the sect and figure out the world? But instead he goes to the outer sect wearing rags? It just seems nonsensical and inconsistent.

I'll be doing the glossary quite soon and I'm happy you're enjoying the story so far.

He's powerful, but there's still numerous levels of cultivation that dwarfs his power. Also, there's a more deeper reason why Yang Wei wants to cultivate and it's to find out if his strength made him or he was the one who made his strength. By this, I mean, when you look at it magic and cultivation are different in the sense that one usually depends on genetics and the other is purely hardwork and painful struggle after struggle. Yang Wei wants to know if he can attain the same level of power in cultivation that he has attained in magic without the help of his genetics.

I want to know if hard work is the only factor that makes a difference between cultivators or are there any other factors such as special physique, bloodline, spirit root. because all the ones I have read show that cultivation is more based on bloodline than magic.

Well cultivation is special because it doesn't focus on genetics; for the most part. While Magic and Western settings, they focus on what is called fixed mindset, Cultivation and Asians in general focus on Growth mindset. in other words, they believe that even if they aren't talented enough, if they work hard, they can make up for that lack of talent. Also, Magic focuses more on practice to perfect something, most magic systems follow the branch of simple motion and trigger spells but in cultivation one of the determining factors is enlightenment, and enlightenment is more of a lifestyle than just simply understanding it. There's more, but eh. Also, Cultivation is more internal while Magic is external.

Well yes, it's based on bloodline too, but magic is exclusively based on bloodline. In cultivation, one can still become the most powerful without a great bloodline “to begin with”.

I 100% agree cultivation is a genetics and luck thing only the mc who gains a cheat gets to beat the tropes using luck. that's the whole point

brother one of the main things that a cultivation novels explore is the vast inequality and hierarchy of its respective cultivation world most mcs have either hidden talent that surpasses what people in lower realms can detect or a cheat item or ability that would grant them that talent a cultivation world is absolutely static which is what makes the rise of mc so impactful(even though we don't see it that way now tryto recall your first cultivation novel and you can decide) your novle might focus on hardworking for cultivation but that is not the case for most other novels in the genre and in most cultivation novels genetics have a good part in talent they don't have a monopoly but what does is talent there is no cultivation without talent and there is no progress without talent
