Something that I have always wondered is if the Valyrians conquered the continent of Essos because all the noble families of Valyria died? It just doesn't make sense, who ruled the big cities in Essos? the slaves? Weren't there dragon lords ruling those cities? Didn't the families of Valyria have their own territories?

my point of view is they didn't really conquer all of Essos or rather thy just ruled over them like the Targaryen did in westoros. no matter how many troops they had once the dragons goes out they will have to obey. once the dragons are gone they becomes easy game pretty much the same thing that happened in the series. This is but an opinion of mine keep in mind i have never read the book i even skipped some episodes in he show 😂.
