Strong opening first chapter! Down on his luck gambler who loves his son is a great character base to build on, and it will be interesting to see how that interacts with an interdimensional casino. Writing quality is good. Very minor grammar things here and there, but barely noticeable and reads easily. With the right trajectory, this could be a good novel!
