Characters: All of Overlord characters have their depth, personality quirks and unique perspectives on life which grows as their abilities and level of existences increase. You don't have thousand year old deities acting like spilt children for a reason. You find out exactly why they are like this and it really emphasises how unique each character is and how much effort he puts into them. The Main Character especially is a tragic, Amoral figure. You grow to understand the reason for his cruelty and brutality and watch him grow as his goals and ambitions, his identity even changes and evolves. Lore: This book has atleast Three sister novels at the time of this review all adding lore and depth to it. Suffice to say the world is vast, realistic in a fantasy sense, and has a reason for all things being the way they are. It's interesting and draws you in with the first descriptive lines. Power System: One area I can say with certain Overlord Has never disappointed with is the freedom, creativity and often times the horror of unique power systems. He really shows what life would be like in supernatural worlds. How crimes would be more horrifying and good deeds more painful and self sacrificial. Overall, he shows Survival for fragile Mortals and the Grounds for the Faith of Deities. Plot: Overlord keeps an acceptable pace for all his stories so far. It never drags unnecessary and any build up you might have thought was wasted actually hide deep foreshadowing.
