I just had to drop this one, the overall novel is great, but one character completely ruins it for me, the book should have been renamed Princess Charlotte of France, because she is the author's favorite character, to the point of making her a Mary Sue by every definition. She kind of reminds me of Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, super strong without any actual justification/impact/substance, beyond the basic label of 'strong female character'. Just for some examples of why I feel the way I feel about her; the setting is in the late 1800s or early 1900s (I think, the author is not clear about dates), and the princess is 20 years old or something, and these are just some of her accomplishments; 1. She has 20,000 personal troops that she can actually command, and somehow she has kept the fact she has an army secret 2. Advanced technology 20 years ahead of everybody, 3. massive influence in politics despite being a woman in an era where women weren't even allowed to show feet for fear of being scandalized, 4. contacts, and knowledge of other reincarnators, something our MC hadn't even thought about previously, 5. Resources and wealth outstripping MC, and some other stuff. These are fine if she had the proper development to attain them, but she literally just shows up with everything, on MC, Justinian, and then gives an exposition about everything he doesn't know. Justinian, while more believable, looks completely inept in front of the princess. Before she exposed herself to him, he had never even contemplated the thought of other reincarnators. I feel about her character as much as I feel about the she-hulk and modern woke superheroes; good, only in the writers mind.
