It sounds conceptually unique in a weird but good way, and the story follows as such, and I enjoy every bit of that element. Also, I have a question about "The Veil" factor in the story, where did you get the idea from? I remember something similar from a old show I used to watch, but I have a single memory of its name or what it was about.

I think the Veil is a popular concept. I also can't really remember where I got it from I just thought of.it and felt it would be cool

I just remembered for myself, it was the Percy Jackson Book Series, with their whole interaction with mortals and mythological elements creating a mist that makes them see differently.
