Despite the clichéd title and premise, I actually really like this a lot, got hooked worse than I have for any other story in quite a while. At least for a system novel, it's among the best. MC is unusually likeable for a Chinese MC, he's an actually nice and well balanced person; reminds me of the MC of Dragon King's Son-In-Law, another favourite of mine. He's reasonably cautious but not hiding his power, only some of his more dangerous secrets; he's compassionate without being naïve or entirely selfless; he likes good things, but he's not so greedy as to not give others their fair share of the treasures; he's good at not making enemies, being humble where it's smart to act so, but he's not without pride and backbone; he's intelligent and cunning when necessary, but generally an honest, likeable person. Other characters, particularly his tamed creatures, have a decent amount of personality, but the story is heavily focused on the MC, so others aren't so well fleshed out. There's a harem, but no proper romance yet, MC is still keeping a certain amount of distance from all potential love interests. And in case it wasn't clear yet, his tamed creatures are all potential mates (though the first one has yet to properly learn to transform into human form, it's only a matter of time). The MTL I read (231 chapters so far) wasn't too painful to read, it's somewhat decently edited - the translation quality here is better, but still has some minor problems. It's simply an entertaining, pleasant read that never rubbed me the wrong way, as many Chinese novels tend to do at one point or another. As much as I like xianxia and xuanhuan novels, some of the most common clichés in them actually annoy me - this one somehow managed to avoid all those pitfalls, so far. Although there's a conflict with that world's equivalent to Japan, the nationalism isn't too blatant. The world isn't ridiculously huge and even powerful people don't punch enemies across thousands of kilometres or fly at the speed of light. While beast masters are highly respected and power is paramount, the world hasn't devolved into a lawless jungle where commoner lives are as cheap as dirt. Collective punishment also doesn't seem to be the norm. Just to mention a few things. Anyway, recommended.
Liked it!
LIKEOh, forgot to mention: I like the system, because unlike many other systems, this one doesn't give out any material rewards. It mainly just provides him information, like the typical identification skill in Japanese isekai stories. It's OP enough as such, since it allows him to see the evolution potential and requirements of creatures. Aside from that, it allows him to collect "soul power", which is a unique form of energy he can use to "demonise" creatures: it's an alternative evolution path that is more powerful and makes them more intelligent, human-like, and allows them to learn a skill to transform into human form, which is normally impossible for the vast majority of creature species. It also improves their potential, so that even the lowliest life form can evolve into a god. All in all, it provides the MC clear advantages, but he still has to train hard and acquire resources from normal sources, he can't just "sign in" for all kinds of material benefits.
